What is the Eclipse®
Collaborative Law System?
The tool that makes a good idea work.
The Eclipse®
Collaborative Law System was not designed to make divorce
easy. Marriage is serious and important and must be respected
both for what it means
to the spouses and their children and to society as a whole.
But it is in the nature of
life that things change and sometimes a marriage doesn't work out.
In those cases, helping the spouses reconcile their differences
within the context of their changing relationship - especially where
there are children - in a peaceful and honorable way is what
collaborative divorce and the Eclipse®
Collaborative Law System is all about.
The tool must fit the task
at hand - and helping people going through divorce required a tool that
bridges the gap between the spouses changing personal and private
relationship
and their legal and public one.
Divorce is difficult because it
is two things going on at once:
- It is the untying of a personal, private
relationship, and
- It is the untying of a legal, public
relationship.
These two forms of relationship
can become tied in a very complicated knot - a knot that can often be
difficult and painful to untie.
Like any knot, the harder you
pull, the harder it is to untie.
